The game is a 12-week project simulation. Your job is to manage the relationship between capacity, production, quality, cost and EVM performance. A first-time player can use the rules below as the complete operating guide.
Working resources roll production dice. Their rolls create the week's gross production before the Project Manager quality adjustment is applied.
The PM quality adjustment can remove defective objects from the result or add accepted objects through a positive PM contribution.
From Week 2, you can add optional resources and authorise overtime to create more production opportunities.
Core staff, optional resources, PM cost and overtime contribute to Actual Cost. Extra capacity is never free.
The weekly report compares planned work, earned work and actual cost to calculate CPI, SPI, variances and forecasts.
Your next week's decision should be informed by the result, not only by whether the previous dice were high or low.
The production result is not only the resource dice
Think of the weekly production result in two stages. First, the selected resources generate production. Then the Project Manager quality adjustment changes the accepted result.
The PM quality check identifies three defective selected objects. Three objects are removed from the week's accepted progress.
The green result means the Project Manager contributes four accepted objects. Four objects are added to the week's progress.

Capacity decisions from Week 2
From Week 2, the game gives you two ways to increase production opportunity: add an optional resource or authorise overtime for a working resource. Both increase cost, and neither guarantees a specific dice result.

A weak production week does not automatically mean you should add every available resource next week. Compare schedule need with the extra Actual Cost and the effect on CPI, EAC and the remaining project position.
